Laura A. Cathcart is a doctoral student in science education with a specialization in microbiology education. She is currently the lab manager and a teaching assistant for general microbiology.

Her research interests involve examining the influence of undergraduate microbiology education on students' comprehensive thinking about infectious disease problems. Laura frequently works as a research assistant for the Host Pathogen Interaction Teaching Group in the College of Chemical and Life Sciences.
