My advice is to start this chapter over the 4-day weekend. There is a lot to know and memorize.

If it can't be expressed in figures, it is not science it is opinion or social studies.

HW AP Chapter 26

This semester keep your HW in order as is given here. Have it ready each day when you come in the room. Have it out on the side of your desk- open. That does not mean you rush in the room grab someone’s notebook & start copying. If you can't do a problem, you can at least set it up- given & find & units etc. Never call a man a fool. Borrow from him {not his HW}

THERE IS NO WAY AROUND ORGANIC. YOU JUST HAVE TO MEMORIZE THINGS, SORRY.

Tuesday- Test over chapter 12 on Wednesday See web page for notes and review test? http://www.chem.uic.edu/marek

Wednesday- 915-->927 & do ex 1,2, 3 & on 948 do 1, 4

Thursday- Read 927 (bottom)--> 936 do ex 4, 5, 6 You do not have to know reactions except for ester formation & acid/base. Problems P. 949 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18

Friday- Read 937-->945 & 947-->948 ex 7, 8, 9,10, 11 Problems 22, 26, 30, 33a, 36

Read lab, You will start it as soon as you get in the room. You need ALL the time you have. Yes it is formal. Do not forget to write an equation. See my web page for how to write up.

Is your homework is like a juicy steak -- rarely done?

Monday- P. 949 do 38, 41, 43, 46, 48, 49, 54 You should also have the prelab done and be working on the lab calculations. Due Tuesday sorry so much...

I have been told the AP test this year will have more organic on it. They also tell me you will need to know certain reactions. The following may be on the test. They will be simple ones.

1. Addition [p. 942] to a C=C with HX where X is a halogen or OH from water & with X2 like

2.Substitution [p. 944] especially on benzene with X2 or HNO3

3. Oxidation where when you burn it you get oxides

CHNOS + O2 --> CO2 + H2O + NO2 + SO2

4. Esterfication [p. 944 equ #26.21] This is the reaction between an organic acid and an alcohol with sulfuric acid as a catalyst. Listen in class for this one. My favorite.

Tuesday- Study for quiz- very short one on Wednesday.

You worry too much about school. STOP IT! You're not paid enough to worry.

For help on organic go to the following web site, it may help. Remember we did not cover all the chapter:
http://dwb.unl.edu/Teacher/NSF/C06/C06.html
http://library.thinkquest.org/3659/
Or this one from Purdue, hit on Alkenes & Alkynes etc

HW AP Chapter 13

Look you had better know chapter 13 cold. It is the basis for much of what we do this semester and the AP exam. GET HELP IF YOU HAVE TO-- from me, your friends, your mom or dog but get it.

Wednesday- Read 429-->440 ex 1, 2, 3, 4 set up in detail problems on P. 462 #1, 2, 4 Show set up in detail on all problems.

Thursday- Read 440-->445 ex 5, 6, 7 problems 8, 9c, 12a,d, 13

Friday- Read 445-->453 Ex. 8, 9, 10, 11 problems 17, 20, 25

Monday- Read 454-->461 Ex. 12, 13, 14 problems 27, 52a, b, 28, 31, 58, 59-also find _H using VanHoff Equation for 59. Do Prelab-- NOT a formal lab.

Tuesday-Problems 36, 39, 42, 43, 45b, 46a, 47, 50 -for this one tell me why.

Wednesday- Work on lab, due Thursday. Test is Thursday ASK ME on this to be sure.

A good web page for learning equilibrium is:
http://wilkes1.wilkes.edu/~mencer/Chapter14.htm

HW AP Chapter 16

Thursday- Read 547-555 ex 1, 2, 3, Page 576 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 12

Paranoids are people too; they have their own problems. It is easy to criticise but if everyone hated you, you’d be paranoid too.
