Homework
AP CHAPTER 1

This is a college type course. You will get college credit if you do well on the AP exam. You may need to rethink your high school mentality. Then again many of you are first rate students and are ready for the time commitment an AP program requires. You can do it! Just budget your time efficiently so you can do what is required.

There has been an alarming increase in the things you know nothing about.

Have a specific place in your notebook for "the chemical equation of the chapter." LIST THEM IN ORDER BY CHAPTER. You will want to have a specific place in your notebook for "important equations of the chapter." Both of these will be of great use to you at the end for studying for the AP EXAM.

YOU MUST KEEP THE EXERCISES AND PROBLEMS IN YOUR NOTE BOOK IN THE ORDER I GIVE THEM TO YOU. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO CHECK THEM QUICKLY. USE UNITS, SHOW SET UP, DO IT NEATLY PLEASE!. These problems are due the day they are assigned, NOT at the end of the chapter.

If you put garbage in a computer nothing comes out but garbage. But if you use a laser printer it is somehow ennobled and none dare to criticize it.

By week three you need to know some organic chemistry. You need to know the first 10 alkanes. See the table in your text #26.1 page 920. You need to have read pages 915->922 know how to name them as in examples 1 & 2. Look at the following web sites for help all year. Now go to organic chem., hit Hydrocarbons than alkanes http://library.thinkquest.org/3659/
