Marta Witek successfully defended her PhD thesis.

Donald Lei, Jeff Li, Mena Poonaki and Sean Suastegui the recipients of the Honors College Research Awards.
Erika Pino is the recipient of the 2011 Kabbes Undergraduate Research Award.
Micheal Tuntland was awarded a Bodmer International Travel Award,
by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a travel award by the Protein Society.
He will attend and present his research findings in Sctockholm, Sweden in May, 2011.
Aunica Jones was selected as one of the 2011 Black History Makers.
Priya V. Patel was awarded an Undergraduate Rsearch Award from the Caterpillar Fund.
Yuanli Song was awarded "FIRST PLACE" in the Poster Session of the Chicago Section of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy, April 21st, 2010.
Andrea Antoniou was awarded "THIRD PLACE" in the Student Research Forum 2010 (April 20th, 2010) - Physical Science and Engineering - Graduate Students.
Aunica Jones was awarded "THIRD PLACE" in the Student Research Forum 2010 (April 20th, 2010 - Life Science - Undergraduate Students.
Mary Youkhana receives a Caterpillar Undergraduate Research Award from the Honors College for her research in spectrin.
Mallory McLaughlin receives a Kabbes Undergraduate Research Award from the Honors College for her research in spectrin.
Mohini Pathria receives a Kabbes Undergraduate Research Award from the Honors College for her research in spectrin.
Andrea Antoniou receives a Caterpillar and Kabbes Undergraduate Research Award from the Honors College for her research in spectrin.
Manali Patel was selected by the Departments of Biological Sciences and Chemistry to receive the Reitz and Shapiro Award as an outstanding student in Biochemistry.
Michael Koerner was awarded a Phi Kappa Phi Research Grant to further pursue his ELISA assay for spectrin binding.
Marta Witek was awarded a Pre-Doctoral MOST (Multidisciplinary Oral Science Training) Fellowship, supported by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, for 2009-2010.
Chloe Antoniou was awarded a Paaren Fellowship by the UIC Chemistry Department for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Zinal Thakkar was awarded the Hodgkin and Huxley Neuroscience Award,
an award given to an outstanding Neuroscience major
with a GPA above 3.9 and conducted an exceptional research project.
Michael Koerner was awarded the Benjamin B. Freud Award,
for scientific excellence.
This is the oldest award in UIC Chemistry Department,
given to an exceptional chemistry major, usually in junior year.
Marta Witek was awarded a Bodmer International Travel Award,
by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
She will attend and present her research results in a meeting in Poland in June, 2008.
Chloe Antoniou was awarded the only student poster award at EPR 2007
a Joint Conference of 12th In Vivo EPR Spectroscopy and Imaging
& 9th International EPR Spin Trapping/Spin Labeling,
Chicago, IL (April 29-May 3, 2007).
Her poster title was "Site-Directed Spin Labeling EPR Studies of the Tetramerization of Erythroid Spectrin".
Honors College Scholarship Association presented Mark A Wyatt Award to
Mike also receives an Outstanding Scholarship Award.

Marta Witek has been awarded the Sarah Madonna Kabbes Scholarships for Undergraduate Research.
Miss Kabbes was an alumna of the Urbana-Champaign campus
and a former faculty member at UIC's Navy Pier campus.

Priyanka Rajaram is one of the two 2005-2006 Lubrizol Awardees in the Department of Chemistry.
The scholarships are awarded to junior or senior students in the degree program in Chemistry,
based primarily on established academic achievement and/or academic potential of exceptional students.

Marta Witek receives the Frances Seabright Award
for her research presentation at the Undergraduate Research Symposium
sponsored by the Aurum Iodide Chapter of Iota Sigma Pi, the National Honor Society for Women in Chemistry.
Prof. Frances Seabright was one of the original faculty members at UIC.
She was a charter member of Iota Sigma Pi and was active in the ACS for decades.
